Chris Kirschbaum, an organic farmer/photographer from Oxford Iowa, USA has won $1,130.00 and a Leica X2 Camera worth $2000. This photo has magical lighting. What could be a better childhood than growing up in the countryside and playing with a dog in the local creek? It's a beautiful photo capturing a beautiful moment.

Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you to everyone who entered one of the 226 entries. We'd also like to thank the judges Thorsten Overgaard and Brigit Krippner.

Free Photo Competition 2015 Week 48 Results

Congratulations to Dragan Milovanovic from Québec in Canada. A fantastic photo that is probably good enough to win one of the non-free contests.

We don't normally make a blog entry announcing the results of the weekly free competition. This week is an exception. Mainly because we would like to announce a new rule. Photos that have already been entered into the weekly free competition can not be entered again into another free competition. We have had cases where people have entered the same photo 14 times! With this rule we hope to see new photos being entered rather than the same photos. There have been cases where the same photo has won more than one free competition. With the new rule, this would not happen again. If you enter the weekly free competition you will still be able to enter the non-free competitions.

We hope that you continue to enjoy the weekly free competitions and we thank you all for taking part.

Child Photo Competition 2015 No 5 Results

Sohail Karmani from London (now based in United Arab Emirates) has won the child photo contest with a striking portrait shot. Portrait photos taken with a narrow depth of field can really make the face and eyes the focus of the photo and give a feeling of depth. Perhaps what gives this photo its winning charm is that the boy has a natural scruffiness. It works well as black-and-white emphasising the detail without distracting colors.

Sohail Karmani has won $310.00 and a Leica C worth $700. Thank you to everyone who entered one of the 155 entries, and to the judge Lisa Alessandra Kutzelnig.

As the Leica C is being discontinued the next Child photo contest will have a cash prize starting with a whopping $500 and rising by $2 with every entry. By the time the competition closes to new entries the cash prize could be very large.

Macro Photo Competition 2015 No 5 Results

Frantisek Dulik from East Slovakia won the macro photo contest with an incredible shot of an ant. Insects taken this close can look alien and monstrous but I love macro photography for bringing this hidden world to us in full glorious colour with mind blowing detail. It's also great to see winners from all of the world and from so many different countries. I-SHOT-IT is definitely a worldwide company now! Frantisek won $115.20 and ... as the Leica C has been discontinued, we now add about €400 to the prize.

We would like to thank everyone who entered one of the 96 entries and to the judge David Chambon.

Now that summer is over in the northern hemisphere we need reminders of that hot sunshine. We would also like to thank the judge Jason M Peterson for selecting the winning shots.

Sharper Images For Retina Displays

October 22nd, 2015

We have recently updated the I SHOT IT website so that photos can be displayed at twice the pixel density for high resolution displays such as Apple's Retina displays. We have added a new Photo Scale option to the website settings.

The square and thumbnail versions of each photo are now stored with four times as many pixels as before. This means that on standard displays they will be bigger. On high pixel density displays they will be the same size as before, but they will contain more detail.

As most phones and tablets have high pixel density displays, photos will automatically be displayed with a higher pixel density for these devices. You can override the default setting in the website settings. This setting will be saved as a cookie in your browser.

We are continuously trying to make the I SHOT IT website easier to use on tablets and phones, as well as desktop computers. If you have any suggestions for how we could make the I SHOT IT website better, we would love to hear from you. Contact Us.

Black-And-White Photo Competition 3 2015 Results

We are please to announce that Alex Coppel from Melbourne in Australia has won with this super shot. It's the angle of the shot and feeling of imminent danger that make this photo stand out. Alex has won a Leica M MONOCHROM body worth $8000.00 and a cash prize of $6,500.00. This is an a super prize and one of reasons why the black-and-white competitions are so popular.

Thank you to all who entered one of the 650 entries and to our judges Thorsten Overgaard and Brigit Krippner.

A New Photo File Uploader

September 25th, 2015

We've just added a new file uploader page. The new file uploader allows you to upload multiple photos in one go, and it should work on phones and tablets. Our previous multiple file uploader used Adobe Flash. There has recently been some talk about the demise of Adobe Flash, so we thought it was about time we replaced the code with something new. One of the big advantages is that this uploader will now work on iPhones and iPads as well as desktop computers. If you use a desktop computer you can drag and drop files to the white area if this is easier for you.

If there is a problem processing a photo, for example if the photo is too big or too small, then you will see an error message. If you have any problems getting this new file uploader to work, then please contact us.

A New 'Shadows' Themed Competition

September 7th, 2015

I SHOT IT judge Duncan MacArthur has come up with a fun one-off competition - Photos for this theme can be of any subject - so long as there is a prominent shadow. Shadows can be of anything or anybody and from any source of light. We will be looking for originality and fun as well as sound photography. This competition has now started.
