  • You have caught a lovely foggy atmosphere in the soft, low, evening light and set it all off perfectly with the lighthouse beam which leads us into the empty distance. The pigeons are great and bring your photograph to life. Well done, you win this round!

  • "Through the Fog". Maine's oldest lighthouse, the Portland Head Light, has served as a beacon for mariners since it was first lit in 1791.  Now it stands proudly as a symbol for guidance and safe harbor.  A calm within the storm.

  • I love the layers here and their different textures. At any other moment in the day this scene would be flat with those layers squashed together into a meaningless 2D image. You have used the morning mist to separate the grasses and trees from one another creating all these interesting shapes and bringing all the depth to this view. Great shot, great timing, well done!

  • Susanne Wunn from Sonsbeck/NRW/Germany. Thank you very much for this Mark of Excellence! This verify my belief not to have to travel over the world to take photos. I shot it with Nikon D800E at home at the end of our garden in Sonsbeck early in the morning with beautiful sunrise looking over the field to the country road to Geldern, normally a very unspectacular landscape.

  • Your creative long exposure has made the star trails and let the fog roll around in the street lighting so that it takes on this fairytale dimension of blur and strong warm color. Lovely clever shot.

  • What an honour, the calibre of work on this site is amazing. Interestingly, this photo is not of streetlights in fog, but of fire and smoke! The exposure time was roughly 15 minutes, which is what created the glowing effect in the smoke. This was one of those lucky moments you couldn't really plan in advance!

  • Beautiful autumn colours for these wonderful and proud looking beech trees. You have spotted the rare light and gone on to process that very subtly. Lovely composition and editing. Well done.

  • Beautiful and calm with nice cool colour and tones that fade away into the distance. You have lined up the stone in the water nicely, its shape setting off the starburst of the sun. Moments like this when the sun is half hidden so that you can make that star barely last a second, so it is fair to say you anticipated this shot well.

  • Thank you for choosing my photo, it is sure a very special place for me. I travel to Scotland a few times a year, and Isle of Skye lands itself for some amazing landscape photography. This photo was taken at sunset. Krisztina Scheeff with KS Nature Photography.

  • Lovely pastel atmosphere here for this lone Sri Lankan fisherman. Well done for the slow shutter which makes this image what it is... the right choice.

  • Yvan Rochat from Switzerland. Good guess, this scene takes place in the South of Sri-Lanka. I wanted to capture the frailty of human nature in the midst of wild nature: ocean, wind, big rocks. This fisherman was all alone and gave perspective to this seascape. Many thanks for the mark!

  • A technically correct landscape with sharp detail throughout and a lovely palette of warm colours. Your composition is fine also, all those individual shapes coming together, each of them with plenty space, making this a very peaceful and soulful photograph.

  • I love silhouetted trees and the amazingly graphic shapes that they can take on when their surface detail disappears into black and grey. Nice effect and your choice of monochrome adds to this.
