  • First of all, i want to thank You very much for this beautiful prize! I am delighted! I am Petar Sabol from Croatia and i love to take macro photos. This beautiful Marbled White (Melanargia galathea) butterfly photo was taken at sunrise with Sony a77 camera and lens was Sigma 180mm macro. I was using tripod and these settings : ISO50, F8, 1/6sec . Photo was taken in RAW, then i was playing some time to get most out of it and. Nothing special was done other than removing some dust spots, contrast, color adjustments and some selective shadows/highlights work. Thank You very much!

  • Thank you for the mark of excellece and for your comment. This photo was shot last month in France. The "golden" backgroud is due to a field of wheat which was behind. The camera used for this photo is a Canon 5d Mk2 with a 100mm macro lens. Then I used Dxo to develop and crop the picture.

  • I shot this amazing butterfly, a Red-disked Emperor (Doxocopa zunida felderi) at Wildsumaco Lodge in Ecuador. Due to its wonderful location on the eastern slope of the Andes it has tremendous diversity for both birds and butterflies. I used a Canon Mark IV with a 180 mm Macro lens. The soft, but bright overcast sky on this day helped to show off all the colors in this scene. I did a little post processing in photoshop (contrast, birghtness, saturation) but really, not much. I like to keep things natural and realistic. John Hendrickson

  • Thanks a lot for the Mark of exellence! I am very happy about that. The picture was shot with the Canon 500 D and Sigma 150mm 2.8 Makro lens at my home in Germany. I bred various species of praying mantises 3 years ago when this picture was taken. This hobby of insect breeding has finally brought me to photography last. 1/30s, f/8, ISO 100 + Adobe Ligthroom

  • My name is Francis Prior, I am 20 years old and live in liverpool. I study Biology at Aberystwyth university and have a passion for wildlife and the environment. I have a Canon 550D and use a home made setup for my macro photography. This image of a jumping spider was created using a technique known as focus stacking, of around 300 images. The post processing was stacking the images adding bokeh, increasing the sharpness and toning also.
