Stripes, stripes and more stripes! Was this image staged? It seems almost too amazing to have happened by chance!

This photo is indeed a candid. While I am proud that the image received a mark of excellence, I am really confused by the judge's reaction: I do feel insulted by the fact that it was assumed to be staged (which more than likely weighed in their judging of the competition). I am trained as a photojournalist and I pride myself in practicing a pure form of street photography which boils down to only taking candids and never doing any post processing beyond some dodging and burning. Frankly, if one was to stage an image like this, they would place the subject much better in the frame and make them do something more interesting than crossing the street talking on the phone.
