Loved this image when I first saw it, i love the balance, the space allowed to the subject although a little more top and bottom would have been nicer I think. The lighting is great and the way that it impacts on the textures and the floor. Well done, great photography Tim

Thank you, Tim! Congratulations to all! My name is Aaron Wilson, I live in Austin, TX and am very honored to receive a mark of excellence. I was at a small club on the East side shooting for my friend's band. In between sets, I stepped outside for some air and found this amazing 50's era pedal car hanging on the wall above the doorway. I loved the lighting and textures and wanted to create the illusion that the car was on the floor being photographed from above. I agree the framing is tight on top an bottom, but felt it was necessary to maintain the illusion. For me, the crop also adds an uneasiness of the atomic age to the image and juxtaposed with the child's toy to great effect. I imagined my father as a boy, abandoning his favorite toy to follow his mother down into the bomb shelter. Shot with an Olympus EM-5, m.zuiko [email protected] 1/90 ISO3200. Lightroom4 BW conversion with minor exposure/contrast/clarity adjustments.
