Sometimes you recognize an image as being great straight away, but not be able to put your finger on exactly why without deeper study. There is something wonderful and yet fragile about the old man whose back is toward us. How he holds onto the rail with his hands behind his back is a subtle clue to his fragility, but it also pins the composition together. The triangle of the hands and arms inverts and repeats with the arms and head, and similar triangles form between the heads of the three people in the street and also between the statue and the face on the poster and that of the old man, etc. This composition really works well. Excellent job!
