  • This Dog Photo Competition has been one of the hardest to judge, with MANY wonderful and strong images, but this one -- of a terrier rolling in the sand, being SUCH a dog -- is truly a stand out image in an extremely amazing field of photos. The white balance is bang on, and the tones are fabulous ... with the elements of the image being simple -- dog, sand, trees and sky -- allow us to take in all of the details and various textures ... and that spray of sand kicked up by the dog's foot is spectacular. This is a TRULY wonderful image, and one to be remembered. Congratulations! ~ illona

  • This is an absolutely fabulous image. The decision to convert to black-and-white, with strong whites and deep blacks, make it a strong image where the distant dog is clearly the subject amidst these stark trees. Brilliantly seen and captured. ~ illona

  • I can't say enough about this image and how incredible it is. The shallow depth of field and leading line/curve, the strong contrast, and the black-and-white conversion all add to the great atmosphere of this image of a patiently waiting bull terrier. Her lowered head echoes the relaxed pose of the person sitting in the background. Beautifully done and an immediate favorite. ~ illona

  • This is an absolutely stunning image ... using this dog to block the sun, creating wonderful rim-light, along with the shallow depth of field and the warm golden tones, make it an expertly handled image ... and the dog's distant gaze make us wonder what he's looking at out of frame. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • Camera was: Sony A7R 3 Taken in Oslo, Norway - one autumn day, with a whippet that sadly have been very familiar with being photographed. Post processing was done in Lightroom, main bit being using a LUT - based on Teal & Orange, for that movie sort of look/feel. Since the photo was very strongly backlight, I raised exposure on the Whippet, with ca 1.5-3 steps

  • Thank you for the appreciation! This photo shows my dog Rumo who accompanies me also to the photo studio. I often use my dogs to set up the lights and some nice shots happen. My poor Rumo doesn't like cold so much, so I borrowed him my scarf and then this picture happened :) it's one of my favourites of him, because it shows his natural and curious character in a simple way.
