- There are so many connections within this photograph. It is a lovely, well managed, pastel exposure in an unusual leafy studio, but its real force comes from the reflected face in the window, the face that is being painted. It is a clever, well mastered, out-of-the-box approach, congratulations, you win this competition.

- Thank you very much I am deeply honored! My name is Tammy Swarek. I am a contemporary portrait and fine art photographer in El Dorado, Arkansas. This image was shot with my Canon 5D Mark II in Madison, Mississippi in an abandoned house. The model, Demi Chen, is a brilliant pastel artist. When I saw her work I knew I wanted to incorporate it into her portrait and visually tell her story. Post processing was minimal. I enhanced the window reflection and added a subtle texture to enhance the mood in this photograph.

- Thank You! My name is Dale Mateo. I am a Fine Art Photographer from California. I shot this image using the Fuji X-T1 with an adapted Canon FD 50mm lens. I love creating images that are both beautiful and eerie. I enjoy working with this juxtaposition. I often explore and try to capture this daunting feeling I have of being lost in the world. - You have caught the perfectly still water’s surface under the bridge creating this bold and graphic composition with hard lines and strong shapes. The bridge has become part of an abstract image which has instant appeal.

- High rise city living…Apart from the nice lines, shapes and tones of this photograph there are all those reflections. The surrounding and reflecting glass shows us the outside city and frames the lone figure inside his lit-up apartment with a nice effect of the inside.

- Thanks for the honor of the Mark of Excellence. This photo was taken from my niece's 15th floor apartment in Chicago during twilight. I noticed what appeared to be a young boy dancing in the apartment building across from my niece's. The warm light in the apartment contrasted nicely with the cold blue reflections. Camera was an Olympus OMD EM 10 MkII with Olympus 75mm lens shot at f3.5, 1/8sec, ISO 200. Post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop primarily consisting of sharpening and color grading via MacPhun Intensity and Alien Skin Exposure X.

- I love the washed-out effect and the soft colour palette in this very urban view, but also how you have used a puddle of water to mimic the reality of this street scene with its perfect upside-down world, creating that very appealing symmetry.

- Thank you so much for the selection! I shot this recently in Havana, Cuba while on vacation in May (2017). It had rained the night before, leaving this puddle in the perfect spot to capture a classic Havana street scene. I used a Sony a7rii and Sony G-Master 24-70mm f2.8 lens. The rays of light perfectly illuminated the building behind man walking and luckily I was able to catch him striding by. My work can be viewed on Instagram @mmeyers76 and via my site.

- The Mont St Michel is floating away into the beautifully coloured dusk… The square format works well, enhancing the symmetrical forces and helping that amazing 3D effect. Lovely exposure and nice soft contrast too.
