  • let me first say that this has probably been the most difficult I Shot It Dog Photo Competition to judge thus far. EVERY photo in these top ten is a winner, and there is simply no way to rank them in any way. they are ALL winners. what an absolutely fabulous and memorable image. this was an immediate favorite ... from the stark landscape to the tall, twisted tree to the little dog with its reflection at its base. wonderfully seen and captured. congrats! ~ illona

  • Thank you so much! I took the picture at the Baltic Sea in Northern Germany. I was captivated of the lonely tree so I decided to take the photo with the dog right there. The picture was taken with my Nikon D300s and the 17-50mm 2.8 from Sigma. I used Photoshop for the editing.

  • My name is Jessica and I'm from Quebec City, Canada. I took this picture of my dog while I was working. She loves to chase the sun all over the house and, when I looked at her that day, she really seemed to be enjoying the sunrays. This was taken with my Nikon D750 and a 50 mm f1.4. All I did was convert the picture to black and white and add some darkness in the shadow to direct the viewer’s eyes on the dog.

  • this is a fabulous image. I'd love to see it in color, but the black-and-white conversion certainly keeps things simple, boiling the image down the basic elements so that the receding lines and the shapes and forms all lead us to the gorgeous subject so beautifully framed. a completely memorable and strong image. well done! ~ illona

  • what a great image. the shallow depth of field provides clear, sharp focus on the subject, yet there is so much texture for our eye to wander through, but always come back to the sweet dog's face. nicely done. beautiful tones and shadows, and great white balance. ~ illona
