  • I really like this black and white picture of this little girlie, playing soccer with her "hello Kitty" ball, wearing her black tutu skirt. You caught it in exact the right time! Her facial expression is great! It puts a smile on my face every time I look at it. Congratulations to the winner of this I-Shot-It Child Photo Competition! What a fabulous shot!!

  • The model in this photo is my granddaughter. The girlie clothes she chose to wear that morning were totally at odds with what she wanted to do, cycle and play football. I wanted to capture that duality. I used a Fuji X-T1 for this shot.

  • “Painting is the art of addition: the artist adds colors to his painting and builds up the image. Photography is the art of reduction: we try to pull out a simple beauty from the complex world around us.” This image was taken last year(2015) when I going to Padang for bull racing. It is a fantastic photography trip. The local people are so nice and kind.

  • Graham Martin, Dublin. I shot this scene with a Fuji X100 and converted it to b&w in Lightroom 4. It was taken in a small city called Nova Serrana in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. I liked how the girl on the left was acting tough (in a 'Frozen' t-shirt) and almost mirroring the body language of her mother behind, while the other girl shared a Pastel with her mother. Thank you for your consideration and selection for this mark of excellence.

  • This photo was captured six years ago during the rehearsals of a friend's Copenhagen-based band who also sometimes needed to take her young daughter along. It was captured through a Noctilux mounted on a Leica M8. Very little post processing was done apart from conversion to b/w in Silver Efex Pro.

  • Sally at the beach. Orchard Beach, Bronx, New York. Canon 6D. Sally Mejia stands near the water at Orchard beach in the Bronx. Sally was born in New York and has never been to her family’s country of origin, Honduras. The Bronx beach is the only beach that she has ever known. For the past year and a half, I have been documenting the Garifuna community, an ethnic group of West African and Amerindian descent who live along the Caribbean coast of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua sharing a common history, language, and a system of customs and beliefs. In New York, there are approximately 100,000 people who identify as Garifuna, making this the largest concentration outside of Central America. Because of the city’s demographic diversity and pressures to assimilate to the local American culture, the community undergoes constant transformation yet maintains expressions of their ethnic and cultural identity.

  • Thank you for the distinction! I took this photo of my god-daughter last year at her house. She was diagnosed with mild autism, and I am fortunate enough to have developed a close connection with her. I like this photo because it makes people see how beautiful she really is, and invites them to look past the appearance and look deeper inside through her eyes. This was taken with a Sony Nex 6 and a Zeiss 24mm 1.8.
