Hello, my name is Alessia...36 years old and I come from Italy. Thanks for making my picture a mark of excellence. I can say that abandoned buildings are definitely my favorite subjects to immortalize...every abandoned place I come across has its own story to it, whether it is one that is known or not known to the public, I love finding out what it is through mystery and some thrills! I took the photo with my Nikon D3200 and 18/105 lenses: I was in Mombello asylum (northern Italy) whose construction dates back to 1872. In the year 1960 it had over 3,000 patients, attracting the title of "colossus of Italian mental hospitals"; later, with the 1996 Basaglia law( born for the closing down of all psychiatric hospitals) the entire building was abandoned.
