Street Photo Competition 2017 3 : Entry Number 130

Judges Comment

As a street-photographer you should really always carry a camera with you. This is a great example for spontaneous great moments, captured in the right time, an unobserved moment. The lines in this picture support the scene in a great way and one of the hardest things, that makes a photo interesting, is to tell a story. You did it in a great way! Congrats to the winner of this I-Shot-It Street Photo Competition.

Wow! I was so delighted to get notification that my image had done well in the street category. My name is Paul Bucknall, I have a passion for street photography, I love exploring urban environments always wondering what may be around the next corner and the opportunity that may be presented. I came across this image doing exactly that, and by luck chanced apon this interesting scene of a boy trying to perfect his handstand whilst his friend looked on. I took a few shots unobserved and this is my preferred result. I changed the image to black and white, I felt it made the overall effect more dynamic The image was taken in Havana, Cuba The camera used was a Panasonic GX-8 with 35-100 F2.8 lens used at of 90mm in a 35mm camera equivalent. The judges comment is also correct you should always carry a camera with you even if it is a mobile phone...remember you never know what's around the next corner! Thanks again for choosing my image and the kind comment about the shot!
