Two ways of seeing the world. We feel we see it from the boy’s viewpoint and understand him better. Good work!

I was thrilled to see that this photo got a mark of excellence. It's an honor to have my work recognized, and the fact that there were so many wonderful pictures makes it all the more special. My name is David Glen Larson, and if you'd like to see more of my work you can follow me on Instagram @zoomingwithfeet. I took this picture over the summer. I was heading downtown on the redline subway to take some street photos when these two kids started to dance for money. I'd seen other performers on the subway, but the intensity in this kid's performance and on his face is what set him apart. I used a Fuji X-T2, and luckily I had my 16mm (24mm full-frame equivalent) lens attached. My usual 56mm never would have captured this moment, and I wouldn't have been able to switch over in time. It all happened in a moment, as most street photography does. Post processing was done with Capture One.
