Wildlife Photo Competition 6 2013 : Entry Number 72

This is a beautiful photograph of what i think is a white tailed deer fawn. You are obviously very close and if it is really wild i hope you didn’t touch it. Mother deer leave their fawn whilst they go to eat and nature has cleverly made these fawn have no odour so that predators are unlikely to find them. It is very important not to touch or approach these babies as your human odour will scare the mother off and she will abandon her own baby. The same applies to baby seals which tourists pick up thinking they have been lost and inadvertantly cause them to be abandoned. All wildlife photographers must be careful not to harm or frighten the animals they photograph.
