Black-And-White Photo Competition 1 2013 : Entry Number 961

Judges Comment

This is a beautiful image on many levels. We wonder if it is a model shoot. It is simple and strong in composition and use of tones. Everything is there. We like it a lot.

My thanks to the judges for the mark of excellence and congratulations to the winning photographer who's image was thoroughly deserving of the prize-so beautiful, strong and multilayered. The Leica Monochrome couldn't be put into better hands! The judges guessed correctly that the image was actually of Victoria Secret model Rosie Huntington Whiteley who I shot for Italian Glamour magazine in Puerto Rico with a local teenager I found while scouting locations and press-ganged into acting out an intimate love affair with Rosie for my camera (lucky guy)! I was still shooting film at the time-Ilford HP5 rated at 200ASA on my Mamiya 645 Pro Tl with 120mm Macro lens. (73mm full frame equivalent) You can see the whole story here: http://michaelsandersstudio.com/gallery.php?gal_id=107 It was amazing to be a part of such a great body of B+W images! Photography is definitely experiencing a golden age! MXX
