Back in the beginning when we started I SHOT IT, the team had the original concept for the Premium Competition, with its unique way of creating a prize fund that grows as more people enter. We are very proud of that original idea. Our original plan didn’t include the Free Competition, but after listening to our users, we thought it was a very good idea to try it and see how successful it would be – and so it has proved to be. The Free Competition is not only entertaining but is also very exciting because of the wide variety and the nature of the photos you enter. It is what sets I SHOT IT apart from other photo competitions – we have no themes and no strict rules and our Free Competition is truly a competition for everyone.
We had such an enormous entry for the first Free Competition and the standard was so high, it proved very difficult for the independent judges to select just one winner and a number of runners up - especially since they take their job very seriously. We set them the task of selecting only one winner for the Free Competition and we do appreciate and understand that means there will be a lot of disappointed participants. Whilst we have made the Free Competition more frequent than the Premium Competition – there will now be one Free Competition every month – we do ask you take this into consideration when you enter. We think that the value of the Free Competition is being able to look at your own work alongside that of others in a showcase where it is the photo that speaks for itself and to understand the differences between a good photo of a great subject and a great photo of a great subject.
