  • This is such a fabulous street image. The almost comical look on this dachshund's face and the parade of chihuahuas moving past him, is such a storytelling capture. Black and white was certainly the way to go with this image to limit distractions. I think the only thing that would make this image even stronger would have been shooting it with a shallower depth of field so that the subject could stand out a bit more amid the background distractions of parked cars, storefronts and signage. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • Thanks so much for the recognition! I shot this on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles on a late Saturday afternoon. I noticed this cute dog and sat in front of him to shoot for a while waiting for the background to get interesting. The dog must have wondered what a human was doing there sitting on the ground for all this time with a camera in front of his face, hence his puzzled look :-) I shot this with my Leica Monochrom (type 246) and Zeiss 35mm f/2.0 prime. Post processing was done in Lightroom CC + Silver Efex Pro 2.

  • What a fabulous and fun image. The decision to shoot/convert this to black and white makes it very strong by simplifying the elements and allowing the viewer's eye to go immediately to the little white dog. I do find the panel of mesh/screen under this boardwalk to be slight distracting, and wonder if darkening this section might make this image even stronger. Either way, wonderfully captured and managed. ~ illona

  • What an absolutely epic image. This gorgeous setting and light would make a fabulous image on its own, but put a beautifully posed Australian shepherd standing proudly on this snowy knoll and you just can't beat it. Beautifully seen, captured and managed in post. ~ illona
