  • A beautiful portrait with an attitude that makes you almost see the next 40 years of this person as well. The net and muted colors add an extra beauty and mysterious layer to it as well.

  • Model - Berkeley Clayborne. Makeup and Hair - Katie Ballard. Shot at my Atlanta studio using Canon 5D Mark II. Very light post processing - color saturation and contrast adjustments. The concept was Renaissance portrait with a modern twist. I chose a single light to keep the image simple and painting-like. The net was added to make a little more mysterious. Having an amazing model and a great makeup artist/hair stylist is a huge part of this image.

  • A woman prays for the souls of those who died in a Gyumri church. 10 years on from the Armenian earthquake. 6 December 1998, Gyumri, Armenia. Photo: Edmond Terakopian This was shot on a Leica M6 and I think a Leica 21mm Elmarit, on Kodak Ektachrome. No extra post processing has been done apart from sharpening the scan and adding a touch of contrast.

  • Alone in the snow and open landscape, and so cold the camera almost freezes. That’s what we see in this photograph and we can only imagine how interesting it must look for those who have never seen snow in their life.

  • Thanks, I´m honored! This photo was taken while cross-country skiing past a frozen lake covered with deep snow, in the woods just outside Oslo, Norway. As a matter of fact it´s just about 15 km (9 miles) in distance from the location to the centre of Oslo city. In the background the atmospheric phenomena called Sundog can be seen to the right of the sun. Canon G1X Mark II. Post-processed in Lightroom. Svein Nordrum, Oslo.

  • A dark story or simply how life looks in this neighborhood. The silhouette placed in the right place makes the photograph and the colors accentuate it.

  • A young Kanye West we could comment with a smile. But a striking portrait of an angry young man we somehow expect to make a mark on history to some degree. Well captured and adorable.

  • While I was taking this picture in Touba, Senegal, I couldn't stop thinking about how a kid can have so much power on his eyes. It took me a while to setup my camera, and he was all the time looking at me with this amazing look. • Photographer: Salva Mendez • Location: Touba, Senegal • Technical info: Canon 5D Mark III / Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM / Processed in Adobe Photoshop CC

  • We have seen this photo before, and it is still a striking image from the bombings in London. The calm reflection over a life-threatening situation while it is still chaos all over. A historic photograph.

  • A commuter, one of many walking wounded, leaves the Edgware Road Underground Station, still clutching his morning paper. A suicide bomber blew himself up on a tube train at the station, killing seven passengers. This was one of four terrorist attacks on the transport system, resulting in 52 innocent deaths. London, 7 July 2005. Photo: Edmond Terakopian This was shot on a Canon 1D Mark II and Canon 300mm f2.8L IS lens. The image was processed adhering to normal photojournalistic standards (no manipulation). This image won third place in the prestigious World Press Photo, in the Spot News category. As 2015 marks the 10th anniversary of this crime, I entered the image again to remind us all of the horrendous events of that black day.

  • The layers of adventure and being one with nature and the universe is what we like in this image. It could be a campfire by the mountains under the stars. A fairytale in one photo, and you make the rest of the story.

  • This shot was taken at the Whitney Portal Campground in California. It was late and I was little nervous because we saw a bear earlier in the day. The family went to sleep in our camper, the camp fire was extinguished and I felt inspired to try some long exposures. I grabbed my Fuji X-T1 a Zeiss 12 mm f/2.8 super wide and mounted it on a Manfrotto tripod. The 30 second exposure was interrupted by a passing car, I almost stopped the shot because I thought it would be ruined by the lights. I’m glad I didn’t because the lights from the car gave the image something I wouldn't have been able to get without them. I’m very honored to be awarded ‘Mark Of Excellence’ by the I Shot It team. I look forward to entering more challenges on the I shot it site. • This photograph depends very heavily on someone else's art, but the addition of the woman and the excellent timing adds to the existing art piece. And the man looking at the girl makes it even better.

  • Congratulation to the Winner and, of course, to all the others marks of excellence as well as thanks to the Judges. Location of the photographs: Promenade des Anglais, Nice (France), early Sunday morning, May 2013. As many of my “Sunday photographers” colleagues, that’s the time we can dedicate to our passion. I was chasing runners, amateur cyclists, persons with their dog or somebody who was simply walking in front of the sea: all of them were actors of a space-filling composition. This is one of the last photographs I took back on my hotel way. Attracted to the green color of the little pedestrian crossing signal and the road, after a couple of unsatisfying shots, those two cyclers decided to fill the frame. I am just a witness. Canon 50D with 17-40mm lens f/4. Post with Ligtroom 4 using a graduate filter on the sky. Roberto Tavazzani, Italy.
