Judges Critiquing Service

October 31st, 2013

Ever since we started our first I Shot It competition, along with the prizes we offer, one of the things that people tell us they strive for is to have a critique of their photo by one of our highly-experienced I Shot It judges. We think the judge's critique is a great way for people to understand the complexities of the judging process and creates a learning resource for other photographers to refer to.

We have invested a great deal of time and effort in trying to find a way to make this work within the I Shot It competition structure and we think we have a system ready for a live test. Judge Duncan MacArthur has agreed to help us run the test on his Landscape and Wildlife Competitions and the test will be both optional and FREE to try.

How will it work?

When a photo is entered into the competition, an additional button will allow you to submit the photo to be considered by Duncan for critique. Duncan will choose groups of photos to be able to illustrate ways to improve framing or depth of field for example but we cannot guarantee he will be able to critique every photo submitted. This process will take place after the competition is over and the photos will continue to remain anonymous.

This will not be a forum arrangement and we regret that neither I Shot It nor Duncan MacArthur will be able to enter into discussions about the critiques.
