Going through the selections, we kept an eye out for uniquely narrated images. The iconic solitary island of Alcatraz framed through the cluttered, but well placed, electrical wires depicts San Francisco grittier components. The fog blanketing “The Rock” is a sheer signature of the city normally portrayed within a closer proximity. This places the observer into a time warp in which they are directly looking at a prison that once housed the most notorious of criminals.

I shot this view of Alcatraz from the top of Lombard Street, another iconic San Francisco landmark. This image was taken on a Canon 5dMkii with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0 L IS USM Lens and processed in Lightroom 4.
