Amazing image and make me wonder how it was captured, great action photography.

Wow! A powerful image that was quite difficult to capture I would image. Full of action and drama, I would have liked to have seen a little more space around the subject but overall great work and fully deserving high merit indeed. Great capture well done Tim

Thanks for the award. The photo was taken at NAS Pensacola ,Pensacola,FL last fall.I used a Nikon D90 with a Sigma 70-300mm zoom.The effect is water vapor that forms as the plane approaches the speed of sound, over 600 knots (600+ miles per hour) making such shots difficult indeed.The plane is only in range for a few seconds.Part skill, part luck.F5.6 at 640 shutter speed, set to continuous and fire away and hope you get the shot.The plane banked at just the right moment.Seen from the ground it looks like lightning flashing around the plane- dramatic and hypnotic.It is the best overall "vapor trail" photo I have so far.
