  • Something held the flower in the air very close to the ground, interrupting the fall. The photo is of this unique moment. The camera was a Sony RX100 IV. I am very grateful for the judge's comment on the photo. Miguel Bartilotti. Brazil.

  • Sometimes the photographer has to bend down a little, or maybe even go all the way down to create a different angle. How this photo was taken makes us feel, being integrated with this purple flower, being right there with it. Pastel colours and the blurred-out soft background make this a delicate and dream-like appearance of this flower.

  • The colours are surreal in this capture, possibly a certain way of post-production. The composition of it is excellent, and a blurred-out background makes the flower, stem and leaves pop out to the front.

  • An environment of all green and white! The composition is great, it seems that the photographer went low on the ground to get on eye level with this flower. This makes us, the observers, feel being involved and engaged in this little scene.

  • Behind glass, a great way introducing layers to a photograph. Seeing reflections of pedestrians in the window, and also a selfie of the photographer. Well seen and captured!

  • One of a kind! Those piercing colours, a narrow depth of field, and how this photo was framed, it gives an impression of eyes looking at us. A stunning image with superb colour and amazing framing, shot from above. Well done!

  • The low contrast and colours make this poppy seed flower and pod stand out in this competition. This flower seems slightly hidden in a different world, making us curious about it.

  • A superb close up of this flower, with a crisp and sharp focal point, is an eye-catching submission in this competition. It is abstract, but still gives away enough information for the observer to understand what we are confronted with.

  • In this image we like the dreamy quality, with misty earthy light as a backdrop. In this case it is not about one flower, here we have an entire group of flowers! The out of focus background creates a nice story within this photograph.

  • Hi! I'm Randy Kroll from Salt Lake City, Utah. Thank you for choosing this photo as a finalist! I have always loved the look and contrast of Thistle for it's truly wild and brutal beauty and how their appearance evolves through it's life cycle. They are hated by most but loved by wasps and bees for their nectar. If you happen to love Thistle, then you know like I do, it is from a distance. Photographed with a Canon 6D and 70-200 lens.

  • It took the judges two attempts to see that we are dealing with a statue in the distance, not an actual living person. First impression was a swing a lady, wondering off into the distance. Feel a bit like a fairytale, a story we heard a long time ago. A great image where the path is an important element of the picture. A photo the looks like a poem.
