  • Such an expressive portrait of a worried orang outan wondering through a man-managed forest. Well done you scoop the prize with this superb photograph which leaves us concerned.

  • Thank you so much for choosing my photo to win this round. My name is Angela Poggioni, I am a passionate nature and wildlife photographer from Florence, Italy, living in New York City. This photo was taken at the Gunung Leuser National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Orangutans are highly intelligent, peaceful animals and unfortunately critically endangered. Being arboreal apes they need the forest to survive which has been massively destroyed by palm oil plantations. Nikon D750, 24-70mm f/2.8, focal length 55mm,1/350 sec at f/4.0, ISO 2200.

  • Lovely blue winter scene where the falling snow takes us into fairy tale land. It is a beautiful photograph with plenty artistic appeal.

  • Lovely swirling composition of this dolphin pod in a pastel sea where space is so important to the final image, well done.

  • This really is a fearsome cheetah photo. The low angle makes it happen, and those eyes!

  • Thank you for choosing this image among the winners. I took this photo at the Chobe National Park in Botswana. It was an amazing but also disturbing sight. In this part of Botswana lions figured out how to take down an elephant, a very unusual behaviour and not seen in other parts of Africa. The lioness was taking turns with other two sisters to guard the killing from scavengers, and no doubt she was in control. Nikon D750, 200-500mm f/5.6, focal length 500mm, 1/1500 sec at f/6.7, ISO 280. I converted the photo into black & white in post processing.
