  • Oh my gosh ... best cat photo ever! I can't think of a single way that this image could be ANY more perfect. The black and white conversion is perfect -- bright whites and strong blacks. Those eyes, especially the right eye with the white showing, seem to give us an exact sense of this cat's comical character. The overall textures in the image are splendid ... the laminated plywood, the fur, those long, fine whiskers, and - of course - those eyes! The only thing I wish for this image is that *I* had taken it! Nicely done, and congrats! ~ illona

  • Hello Illona, special thanks to you. I was really happy when I saw my picture in first place. Your enthusiasm and your praise from your chosen mouth have pleased me as much as the first place! Because I have recently rummaged on your homepage and I'm very inspired about your expressive dog portraits! So, many thanks and a nice weekend. Best wishes Katja

  • Based on the ear-tipping the viewer is left to think that this fabulous black cat is a stray ... his broken whiskers and tipped ear giving him a tough look ... and his squinting golden eyes staring directly into the camera work perfectly with the centered composition. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • This is a wonderful capture and a great conversion. The line of the cat's back and shoulders, and then its relaxed tail are splendid amidst the foliage and distant mountain line, and the leading line of the wall makes this centered image perfect. Nicely done and processed. ~ illona

  • What a fun image! The black and white conversion, as well as the minimalism of this image, allows us to focus squarely on the cat. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • This is a wonderful and very 'cat' image. With the focus clearly on the cat's face, past it's blurred rump, our eye goes to that amazing eye, the whiskers and the ear ... leaving us to wonder what he is staring at. Nicely done. ~ illona

  • Hello I am very glad to receive a high rating from this photo. My camera is a Nikon d5100 55-300. My cat sat on the windowsill and looked out the window. The light beautifully illuminated him. This cat is fluffy and plump. He really likes to look out the window. And I love taking pictures of him.

  • This is a wonderful capture ... and while the black and white conversion works, I suspect that this black cat would stand out even if the image were in color. I do find the one blurred grass that crosses the cat's nose to be somewhat distracting, however, I know firsthand how - as animal photographers - we don't always have time to make everything perfect before capturing images. Nicely done. ~ illona
