- This is such a fabulous image and an instant favorite. The shallow depth-of-field gives the background such a soft, almost sweeping feel, along with the receding line of the rail, tunnels our vision immediately to this incredible cat. I think that a little definition in the cat - just a hint of his nose - might make it even stronger, so that he doesn't look like a black hole with eyes. But otherwise, this is a tremendous image with great vision and execution. Bravo! ~ illona

- Thanks for this First Prize. This picture was taken at Houtong (Cat Village in Taiwan) on August 2018. He was aware that I knelt in front of him for a while. Finally, He gave me three seconds to frame this one.

- The almost abstract nature of this photo makes it immediately compelling ... the stark backdrop, accentuated with the dark, geometric shape of the wall, balances out the composition of this this photo with the black cat. Wonderfully seen, captured, and managed in post. ~ illona
