  • We love this unusual composition of a nature labyrinth and man’s best friend taking a central position in the frame of vertical. There is something really grand about this composition that is a confusion of things, yet so simple and well-composed. Very well done, and congratulations to the winner!

  • Thank you so much. It is truly a great honor for me, I'm deeply shocked and grateful. I'm Alicja Zmysłowska, dog photographer from Poland. I took this picture at beautiful polish seaside during holidays. This part of my country is very magical and I love taking pictures there. For this shot I used Canon 1DX with my favorite 35mm 1.4 lens.

  • Thank you so much! I’m very impressed with the photos in this competition, so this is a real honor. This was taken in Evanston, IL on the shore of Lake Michigan. It’s a beautiful place to shoot, and looking at this photo one could even imagine that the water was warm. This was shot with a Fujifilm x100t, post in Lightroom. - Chris Wallace

  • Thanks for the mark of excellence. My name is Duane Bridger and this image, 'The Babysitter', was taken in a small kampung at Sunda Kelapa in Jakarta, Indonesia. The image shows a babysitter, perhaps a grandmother, looking after six children while their parents are at work. Sadly, I returned to photograph this kampung again this week but found that the whole neighbourhood had been bulldozed to make way for some kind of future tourist attraction. The image was taken with a Fuji XPro1.

  • If this photograph came with a soundtrack, it could be Krafwerk. There is something surreal about it all, futuristic, yet is is so down to earth. So much to take in.

  • Wow! Thank you so much for including me in this amazing group. Congratulations to everyone! My photo was taken in Coronado, a semi-island just south of San Diego. My wife and I were visiting for a long weekend and stayed at the amazing Hotel Del Coronado featured in the movie, Some Like it Hot. People were everywhere and the beach was packed, but these four chairs were empty, creating a moment of stillness surrounded by the beach fun. To me it looked like the chairs were enjoying the sunset together. It also made me wonder where their owners were and what they were up too. Taken with a Leica M-P240 with 35mm Summilux FLE lens.

  • Old. Rare. New, the sign says. Somehow we knew it the instant we laid eyes on the fellow in front. Great capture of a character and the environment.

  • Hi and thanks to the judges. I'm so happy for the Mark of Excellence, and for the remarks on the photo. I used a Leica M240 and a 28 Elmarit and almost (!) no post processing.

  • If this car could talk. Well, it almost can. You as the viewer has to figure out the rest. Good suspense.

  • Thank you! I found this car, abandoned, on the swedish island Öland. Normally a quiet and friendly place. Who knows what has happened here, so let the imagination run free. Leica Monochrome, Summilux 50/1,4 ASPH.

  • Something to think about. In many ways very religious and futuristic. It’s the silhouette in front and her expression that makes the composition and storytelling so great. Love it.

  • My Name Is David Patris. I am from Belgium. I took this picture last summer in the town of Avignon, in France. In the old city, "Le palais des Papes" is hosting every night in summer a 360° light show. The Walls of the inner court are turned into 4 huge movie screens. I Used an M9 and a 35mm Summicron. Hand held at 1/6 sec and 800 iso the lens wide open (f:2). I am truly happy with the words you used to decrypt my picture. Kind regards. David

  • The layers of smoke in this first let’s us believe it is several photographs or exposures on top of each other. Somehow it underlines the religious and other-worldly message in the photograph.

  • You only live once. It might be true, but most likely not. The body however, is your own and lasts for this life. So what can you make out of it? In many ways this photograph is a forceful statement. Very nice and simple composition underlining his strong intentions to make something out of it.
