  • What an absolutely stunning image ... perfectly captured and framed ... great work with the back-lighting and the glowing sun, the long shadows accentuated by the low angle, and the strong framing. Beautifully seen, captured and edited. Congrats! ~ illona

  • Wow, thank you so much! This picture was taken on a slightly foggy October morning with beautiful light in Northern Germany. It shows my horse Bella - she is my all time favourite model and my biggest inspiration. The picture was taken with a Canon 1D Mark III and the EF 16-35mm 2.8, edited with Lightroom and Photoshop.

  • This dark image is immediately intriguing, with a true story-telling style. The light highlighting the side of the horse's face, allowing him stand out from the shadows, is wonderful, and his distant gaze makes the viewer imagine a nighttime racetrack. Nicely done. ~ illona

  • Thanks for the 'MOE' This image was taken in Henley Brook, a rural suburb in the picturesque Swan Valley of Perth, Australia. Henley Brook is home to many horse training facilities. I was out photographing one misty winter morning when I stumbled across this solitary horse facing the rising sun. Shot with a Nikon D3X and post processed in PS this image is one of my favourites.

  • What a perfectly stunning and beautiful image. The low-key, simple background allow our eye to take in every last detail of this animal ... the knotted mane, the perked ears, the shimmering coat and veins ... and the overall lines and cropping of this image make it immediately intriguing. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • What a simple but intriguing image. The tight crop makes this photo almost abstract, but the fine details draw our eye throughout the image ... and then there is the absolutely stunning curve of this horse's neck. Beautifully seen and executed! ~ illona

  • What a wonderful, low-key headshot of a beautiful horse. Utilizing a minimal background allows the subject to stand out, and the details and different textures draw our eye continually through the image ... the detail on the halter, the sharp focus throughout the horse's face, the muzzle, the interested eye, the braided mane ... all work to create a true 'study' of this horses. nicely done. ~ illona

  • What a stunning action shot. Stopping the action of the flying water works well to show the force with which the animal is plowing through the water. Nicely captured and framed. ~ illona

  • This cold landscape, shot wide to capture the barren landscape and the dark skies, is absolutely wonderful. The low angle help us feel as though we are on this windswept, rock plain with these two horses. Wonderfully captured. ~ illona

  • What a fabulous capture of some great action ... the kicked up grass, the swish of the tail, the bunched muscles of this rearing horses ... all wonderful. And the tight crop adds to the tension of the action and the overall image. Nicely done! ~ illona

  • This captivating image makes the viewer feel as though they are 'right there' ... shooting between the saplings in the foreground and capturing the horse's direct stare make us feel as though we are standing in this snowy field with this lovely animal. The one distracting element is the object in the snow or in the foreground, situated right beneath the horse's front legs. I would suggest attempting to remove this object in post for a cleaner image. But a lovely image either way! ~ illona
