  • First of all I would like to thank you all the Judges. Congratulations to the other participants also. I saw stunning images, well composed and great photographic eyes. I was in New York, during a summer trip. I toke the boat from Brooklyn to Manhattan...and while all my friends were outside to see the skyline...I tried to see my beloved city from unusual position. The photo was taken with Leica M and 35mm.

  • The interplay of the space depicted in architect’s conceptual drawing with the real space above makes a compelling image, and we commend the photographer for the idea. The matching elements on top and bottom halves is a nice extra touch that helps bring both halves together visually.

  • We enjoyed this powerful portrait of the businessman with the corporate offices in the backdrop. The low angle of view makes the person seem more potent and creates a stronger composition. The image recalls the ‘agent’ from the movie “The Matrix”.

  • Thanks for selecting this photograph! My name is Lenore Thierry and I live in San Francisco. This picture was shot in the Financial District at lunchtime, with the sun overhead and me on a low bench with the camera in my lap. I used a Leica M4, TRIX and 40mm Leica lens with no cropping or post processing, maybe I'll come to the H.M. Photo Center and print it!

  • Sometimes the simplest images end up saying the most. Embedded inside this photo is a story about how the village grew up into a town, or how a family farm may have turned into a business. The colors and shapes play well together in a light hearted way.

  • Hi, Thanks for another Mark of Excellence :) This was shot on Parramatta Rd in Camperdown, Sydney. The small row of houses had been demolished and i'd driven past this remaining shadow of a cottage many times before finally passing it one morning when the sun was hitting it. I quickly pulled into a side street, took a couple of frames over the fence and was glad to have my shot after seeing the potential for a few months while sitting in afternoon traffic. About a week later the site was under construction and this scene no longer existed. Canon 5D3, 24-105L

  • The beautiful dreamy colors and nicely composed elements make this a winning image. It reads almost as an abstract painting or an illustration for a child’s fantasy book – very pleasing to the eye.

  • The perfect arraignment of the compositional elements in this image helps create a soothing calm space that draws the viewer in. The photographer’s use of blue tone marries nicely to this superbly crafted night still.

  • Wow, what a nice surprise! Thank you to the judge for the mark of excellence. My Name is Udo Siebertz and I'm from Siegburg (Germany). This photo was shot in Cologne, near the crane house buildings. The situation with the clear Buildings, empty place and the lonely bike in the foreground had been catch me. In post production with Lightroom 5.6 from a RAW file, I gave these picture a little blue touch. So it was perfect for me. This was one of my first photos with my new camera, the Canon 5D MK III. Lens: EF 17-40mm f/4L USM. Settings: 17mm / f8. ISO 200 and 6 seconds exposure time. Regards, Udo

  • The angle of view of this image creates the fantastical illusion of a city in the clouds. It’s fun for the viewer to switch back and forth between the two worlds and imagine.
