  • Hello everyone! I'm Héctor Millar from Santiago, Chile. I am absolutely happy and surprised to have been the winner! The child in the photo is my nephew Vicente; the photo was taken in summer in the garden of his house, while he and his sister Aranza were playing with the sprinkler to water the grass. I just laid myself on the grass and waited for the moment of the water on their faces...and then...this lovely picture which i love. The photograph was taken with a Nikon D90 and post editing with Adobe Lightroom 3.0. Thank you very much to the judge by the choice and thanks to all the team I Shot it for this opportunity.

  • Very creative idea for a portrait of a little girl. What happened to make her look like that? It is lively and funny. The colors are natural and also beautiful!

  • A unusual portrait of a boy. You chose a portrait format for it but the face is placed in the lower half of this photo. It gets very dynamic and plastic with the positions of his arms and hands. Well done!!

  • Thank you! My name is Miguel Guillermo from the Philippines. Took this image when I was still rocking my Nikon D90 and 18-105mm kit lens. Window light. Processed in LR. This shot of a boy resting is still one of my favorites. There's a tranquil, mysterious look in his eyes that draws you in. Again, thank you

  • A lovely moment! The face of this baby is perfectly in focus. Together with the blurry background it becomes nearly three-dimensional.

  • I took this photo of a girl on the beach at playa Jibacoa in Cuba, this past December. She was playing by herself while her mom and her sister were selling jewelry on the beach. The light was stunning, under a canopy of trees and then she looked at me. I used Nikon D70 to capture this moment.

  • Two friends spending a good time together. This photo strikes through a good composition. You can only see the two girls. Nothing else that could be important. A picture that is focused on the essential. Lively and emotional!

  • That is a lively photo full of emotions. The brown tones make this photo look like it was shot some decades ago. You can even hear the right girl laughing and the soughing of the wind.

  • You capture a very special moment by chance. The quick movement of the man on his bike and the girl who is looking scared in the back. It is a picture you need to look again and again and it tells a story.

  • Thank you Judges for the award. My name is Wilson Wee and the girl at the background is my beautiful daughter, Elise. We were strolling along Jonker Street of Malacca, Malaysia when she was mesmerized by the graffiti on one of the heritage houses. I called her to look out for incoming traffic while I took this photo using a Leica M9P coupled with a summicron 50 mm rigid.
