  • Good capture, great timing to get the separation of the two guys and creates a surreal image which is something I like to see in street photography but don't see often in sports photography. Well done.

  • Thanks! I'm thrilled. I took this while I was a student photographer at Amherst College; it's a picture of a game versus Brandeis. I'm mostly a nature photographer, though I took lots of sports photos when I was at Amherst. I'm currently pursuing a career as a science and environmental writer. Please check out some more of my photography and my writing at my website.

  • Wow, thank you so much! My name is Lyle Krannichfeld and this image was made here on Maui at Peahi, otherwise known as Jaws. It is an image I skipped in initial selections from the day, but came back to it because it reminded me of one of my favorite paintings, 'Great Wave off Kanagawa'. It was shot with a Canon 7D and 100-400, with post processing in Lightroom. It's become a very popular image of mine and looks great on aluminum =) Mahalo!

  • Good use of low angle and wide lens to enhance the drama and I guess some fill in flash if the sun is so strong behind and needing to freeze the action. Good work.

  • Sarah Ebsworth This image was shot in Sale, Victoria during a cycling competition. I was using a canon 5dmkii at the time with a 16-35mm lens and a 580ex flash. Post processing I used levels and a vignette and also used some saturation to bring out the colours.

  • This photo was taken at Seal Beach in Longbeach CA during a large run of big swell in February 2014. The backwash from the retreating waves would explode when colliding with incoming set waves. One of the most powerful things I have ever witnessed. Canon 60D

  • Kind of works, I like the fact that you have shot from a different angle something a lot of photographers would miss, looking for that 'disruption' in the pattern that can make a photo interesting, well done.

  • Thank you for the Mark of Excellence it is very much appreciated. Congrats to the winner that had two legs up on the competition LOL :). My name is Robert Naranjo form Oswego Illinois. I was stationed above the bleachers and the team was huddled behind the bleachers below me, which gave me a clear view of the coach and his focused team huddled around him. Taken with a Nikon D80 & a Nikon 70-200mm lens. Minor adjustments made with Apple Aperture and onOne Software.
