  • Hi everyone. My name is Petar Sabol. I am from Croatia and my passion is macro photography as well as wildlife. I found this beautiful butterfly in the meadow by nearest forest just one kilometer away from home. I was using Sony Alpha a77 camera with Sigma 180mm macro lens. The optimum aperture was at F10 to keep good background blur and to achieve enough depth of field. I was using tripod with cable release and stacked few shots to get butterfly and stem all in focus. ISO was set lowest possible , ISO 50 , for best possible quality and shutter speed was 1/5 sec.

  • Hi, my name is Jenn Wei, from Malaysia. Almost as soon as i began to explore, to read at all, i began to amaze by the formidable life in the undergrowth. For most i embrace the abundance life of tropical country for co-existing with such amazing creatures. This was done at night, during my night macro, this mole cricket was found moving frantically under my torch light, it took a long while follow until it came to rest. This was captured up north of Malaysia crawling its way out in the meadow; Handheld at 1/200 sec, F-57, ISO200, Full Flash. Shot with Nikon D700 + Kenko Extension Tubes 68mm + Tamron SP90 + R1 + DIY Diffuser

  • Many thanks for this Mark of Excellence! My name is Rob McHattie and I live in Surrey, UK. I took this photograph at the RHS Gardens at Wisley in the summer of last year. The Astrantia are always popular with the bees, so I positioned myself carefully as to not block the light and patiently waited for the right moment to present itself. This was taken hand held in natural light with my Nikon D800 with Nikon 105mm VR, with just some basic levels adjustment in Lightroom. (Website currently under construction!)
