  • Hi, my name is Janne and I'm a 22 years old student from university of technology in Helsinki, Finland. I like to experiment with different kinds of techniques and subjects to discover something new and exciting. In this photo there is dew on the fireweeds seed. This macro shot was taken with my Canon 100mm 2.8 macro lens and a reversed 50mm 1.8 on top of the macro lens. That allowed me to get an extremely high magnification of around 4:1. So the "big" drop you see in this photo is almost invisible to the naked eye. Check out my flickr for more! -Janne

  • To get the timing right i used the camera axe and two speedlights .The camera and lens were sigma 105 macro and a Sony A77 .Post process was lightroom and elements 10 but only to cleanup the background not to manipulate the water .

  • I am honored to receive the Mark of Excellence on my photo. My name is Tom Shope. This picture was taken with a Fuji X100S which uses a fixed 23mm (35mm equivalent) lens. The coins were carefully balanced on my kitchen island. I've been experimenting with macro shots beyond the typical subjects. Congrats to the winner. I am humbled to be singled out among so many talented entries.

  • Thank you. My name is Jacqueline Verdun. The little guy wasn't exactly posing, but he was a little displaced. We cut down a Maple tree (had to) and discovered several very small frogs were calling it home. This is a photo of one of them on my lawn. This was taken on May 8, 2013 with a Nikon D300s with a Tamron 180mm Macro lens. 1/250th second @ F4.8. Thanks again!
