  • Thanks so much Illona! This was a wonderful honor. I'm based in Boston, MA. This shot was taken with my ancient Nikon D70s with 50 mm. I love watching my two Heathens (Basenjis) play. It is almost entirely silent. Although Raisin will often make what I call her "Creature from the Black Lagoon" noise. Thanks again!

  • Thank you so much - what an honor! My name is Karin Newstrom and I am based near Minneapolis, Minnesota. The third dog in the image is a dog I fostered before she was adopted (she was staying with us because her owner was out of town) and she loves to sit and stare out the window. My three boys joined her and were captivated by something down the street. This image was taken with a Nikon D700 and 24-70 lens. Thank you again and congratulations to the other photographers!

  • wonderful, conceptual image ... love the dog's expression and the very subtle steam rising from the mug. i think just a wee bit more frame on the right would give a little breathing room around the dog's fabulous ear. an instant fave and definitely a memorable image. ~ illona

  • this image was an instant fave from early on ... a classic black-and-white that embraces the shadows and works the light with experience. i would love to see it with a little more frame to the left, giving a little more breathing room to the image instead of the current tight crop. thanks for sharing! ~ illona

  • it's the expression on these dogs' faces that make this image. great framing and conversion. the rack hanging from the window is an unfortunate distraction. still, nicely captured. ~ illona

  • This is Hani and Fynn on their camping holiday in Cornwall, four miles from Land's End. Taken with a Nikon D5000 and converted to black and white using Silver Efex Pro2. Hani is wondering why I am wasting time when I could be making ready for the beach and Fynn has just spotted a rabbit! I am honoured and thrilled to have my photo among all these beautiful images. • Thank you so much for the kind comments, Illona! Finally got a break in the weather here on “the Prairies” last month to go out and capture this cheerful wee fellow named Max and HIS ball (oh, how he LOVES that ball and it shows!) with my Nikon D700 and 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. Needless to say we had a ton of fun! A little post processing was done in LR 3 and PS. Thanks again to all of the judges and congrats to the artists on their fabulous images! ~ Lesley Bailey, Happy Tails Pet Photography (Manitoba, Canada)

  • wonderful, fun shot ... definitely a memorable image. the crop is a little tight for an action image ... it would be nice to have a little more frame to the right, giving the dogs some breathing room to run into and not have it so centered. but, once again, a very fun image. thanks for sharing! ~ illona

  • Thank you very much for chosing my photo. It shows our amazing tibetan terrier girl Dakini. She loves running and lives with us in Germany. I took this photo of her with my Canon 50D and a 70-200mm 2,8 L on a very dry day. I saw how the dust was shining in the backlightning and had to try my luck :)
