  • Thank you for the votes! I am honored to have my photo chosen as the top photo in the contest. My name is Karen Seniuk and live in California. This photo was taken just after sunrise at the Great Balloon Race in Reno, NV in Sept. 2012. As the balloon was being inflated, I noticed the silhouettes of 3 people adjusting the fabric seams and immediately took a few shots and within seconds the silhouettes were gone. I used a Nikon P7100, f4.5, 1/250, ISO 100. Minor adjustments in PSE, no cropping.

    • The hummingbirds are having a difficult time this year because the dry conditions have impacted the foliage and their food supply. These little ones could use some help so please leave the feeders full through October! This bird was captured at the Chicago Botanic Garden September 2012.

    • My name is Mary Beth Duda, and I am an aspiring photographer from Lawrence, Kansas. I took this photograph with my Panasonic Lumix, and adjusted the contrast to make the flowers more vibrant in the evening sunlight. I shot it outside of Lawrence, just down the road from the little country farmhouse I call home.
