- instant fave! beautiful light and bokeh, and great textures and emotion, making this an extremely memorable image. the only thing i might do differently is try to cut down on the blue tones on the kitten just a little, making him stand out a bit more. but well done. a definite winner. ~ illona

- I was meeting a friend in Baltimore, and saw several alley cats near where I parked. I grabbed my Nikon D60, pursued the cats down the alley, and came upon a small opening with some trash dumpsters. This skinny but curious cat kept looking back at me, but was too timid to allow me to approach. It leaped on to a dumpster, and I was fortunate enough to click the shutter just as it turned and gave me this amazing look. I did a slight white balance correction and a little cropping.

- beautiful capture. exquisite tones and color management, wonderful depth of field and sharpness. great framing, although i, personally, am not a fan of square crop and would like to see more breathing room/negative space at the top of this image. absolutely love this! ~ illona

Hi! My name is Jane Bjerkli. I live in Eidsvoll, Norway. This photo is of my beloved cat, named Mille.
When this picture was taken, she hunted some birds in a tree. I love birds, so she will not take any of them as long as I'm nearby. Just mention it. ;)
Shot with my Canon EOS 450D, in March this year. Exposure 1/125, Aperture f/5.6, Focal Length 250mm, Iso speed 100.
Thank you very much for choosing my photo. I appreciate.

- This is a very interesting shot. I'll admit to not being drawn in initially ... The clutter of the room almost too taxing on the eyes. However, as one looks more closely at this image they can't help but be drawn in ... First by the contents of the room and then by the startling simplicity of the cat sitting at the window. The conversion to sepia helps to keep the eye from spending too much time on the clutter and allows us to focus on the subject of this wonderful image. It all works so well whether viewed large or small. Great work and well seen. ~ illona

- Thanks so much! The tub is one of Jack's favourite places. He usually hops in just as I am hopping out. I finally remembered to put my camera nearby so I could take some photos of his favourite past time - watching the drips.

- lovely capture and framing. i love the choice to convert this to black and white, giving it an old "film" feel, but i'm wondering if the contrast could be boosted just a little, producing truer blacks in the shadows. beautiful image. ~ illona

- Jerome, MI- Sony Alpha 55, 16-50mm 2.8 Thank you so much! My processing style always has a bit of a haze to it, but I do agree that a boost of contrast might not hurt to distinguish features a bit! So honored to have my photo featured in this awesome contest and very excited! Sarah

- Thanks Illone. This, like a lot of my shots was a happy accident. Shooting the other cat in the house, turned and quickly took this one shot, turned back to other cat. Some times in over thinking you loose the shot of the minute.

- you know a shot is good when it works well viewed either large or small. even in thumbnail, this image -- besides being beautifully framed -- evokes curiosity as to the content ... and when viewed larger, we are captivated by the moment captured. beautiful light and shadows, and lovely tones. well done. ~ illona

- this is bing, one of the hospital cats where i work. he was laying on the exam table and posing for me when something caught his eye outside the window. i call this, "seeing things from a different point of view." it was taken with a canon 50d and most likely the canon 50mm f/1.4, probably wide open. it was processed minimally in lightroom 2.

- Very proud to have my photo on this page! This is my cat, Neelix, the first week he and his sister were adopted. He is laying on a blanket draped over the hard top from my Miata, finally relaxing after a long play session. Gear: Olympus E-520, 14-42mm kit lens, FL-36 flash diffused/bounced off the ceiling. LR3 to correct WB, boost sharpness/clarity and bring out gold in his eyes and bell. He's growing up now and thinks he's a dog! For more Neelix: www.flickr.com/photos/alstauffer
