Judges Comment
Time stands still with the shadows, very cold shadow perhaps in the morning. The shadow does it's own thing, the different textures of the sidewalk. It's very balanced and beautiful. It's like there are several personalities in the photo, playing with each other and accompanying each other. It simply works because of all the elements, and wouldn't if they didn't meet in this unique moment.

This photo was taken in the German town of Schwäbisch Hall, looking down from a pub called Sudhaus towards the Würth Museum, during the David Hockney exhibition. The camera used was a Leica D-Lux 4.

The boy with the St. Andrews Cross Flag. It's strong and dramatic in its expression.

Not much to say about this picture, it just works. And does so because it's photographed straight so it's the subject and not the photo that is the center of interest. No added smartness or technique. Good handcraft.

We just think it's very harmonic. The composition and colors. Very unusual but very beautiful composed. When you look at it and goes into it, it becomes very interesting.

The light is just incredible beautiful, it looks like a dead cowboy city. Yellow and blue compliments each other. The guy, we wonder if he holds a camera and if he sits on a star. It's like a movie poster.

Beautiful atmosphere, the building sticking out. A new beginning or some scary scenery. But you are above it, and it's beautiful.

There is a bit of revolt in being on that rooftop, like they have taken over the town. It's like it need more space but it has humor, a little story being told in between.

Atmosphere! The light and the dramatic sky draw you into it immediately. The emptiness, the room to dream and imagine. It's like there's a hidden message in the way it's made, it's a statement you can think about.

This can work because it has the colors and shapes that elevate it into an interesting image, and the image communicates the mood very well of the two subjects.

I took this photo at my girl friends house. The cat belongs to her landlord and is called Puss. I used my iPhone to take the photo. Capturing this moment was more luck than skill as Puss never stays still for very long.

A well executed editorial photo, or a high quality family photo moment. We don't know, but it tells a nice story about sunsets.
