I am honored and still in disbelieve ...
So many "winners" in this competition.
This picture, "Kibera Rays", was taken in a "classroom" in Kibera, the second largest urban slum in Africa. I managed to visit the area while working for "Sarakasi Trust". The judges comment did strike me … "Overall the image to us communicates hope, future and aesthetics with deep respect for the people in the image".
That's exactly what these people provide … hope and a future. I obvious managed to capture these emotions.
Shot on a Fuji X100, sun rays were shining through a few holes in the (hot) tin roof, revealing the dust and providing the most important thing we need … "Light" !
I'd like to express my thanks to the I-SHOT-IT organisation, members of the jury, fellow photographers, Anne and last but not least, the Sarakasi team (Marion!)
" Arts and Culture for a better world ! "
You can find the "Kibera" photo-essay on my Blog.
