The pier fishermen from a different angle than most of us are able to capture; from outside the pier. This gives the overview and a very good storytelling composition, with the moon as the extra story about dedicated and hopeful fishermen waiting for the fish to bite.

Thank you!! I am a keen amateur photographer living in Santa Monica. This photo was taken from Surfrider Beach in Malibu, which has a great view of the Pier. I was there for the moon rise but the fishermen stole the show. For a brief moment, the fishermen hard at work, the delicate, almost paper thin rising moon, and the rod poking at it came together to create a playful, whimsical atmosphere in which I would not have been surprised if they next caught the magical goldlfish to grant them three wishes in exchange for its freedom :). My best friend on site: Canon Rebel T3i with a Canon 55-250mm telephoto lens. Ioana Popescu
