  • This is a very well-composed overview of beach life, presumably outside season, but with lots of life and interesting details.

  • Thank you! I took the picture in south India near Mysore. That afternoon I was particularly intrigued by the shadows on the stairs. Therefore, I spent a few hours there swimming and getting acquainted to the people and the situation. Shot with a Leica M240 using 28mm Elmarit-M f/2.8 ASPH at f/4.8 and 1/375

  • David W Sussman, This is a photograph taken on the east coast of Florida. The resort town of Jupiter is well known for it's limestone formations that emerge from the the Atlantic to it's shores. The pic was shot with a Nikon D810 on tripod with slow exposure from 1-1/4 second exposure. The difficulty with this image is not what you might think, wind. Yes as the surf crashes against the limestone a fine mist of salt spray covers everything. I used plastic to protect the camera with the lens poking through. After every shot the lens had to be cleaned.

  • It’s not easy to capture the wind and the details of all the work that went into this, yet able to show the mountains and give the viewer an impression of the overall scene. The colors makes it very special, too.

  • I am Kevin Van Sant, a jazz guitarist in the US. This is my son on his 2nd birthday marveling at his new train table. The picture was taken with a Sony A6000 with a 1970's Super Takumar 50mm. I do most of my shooting with either this lens or one of three 1950's Russian lenses I have wide open. I'm very drawn to narrow filed of focus picture taking, which can be quite a challenge with a moving target! But the rewards for a successful shot can be something special :)

  • "Coexisting" I originally went to the beach to try to shoot a panorama that captured both the rise of the full moon simultaneously with the sunset. Unfortunately the moon was enshrouded by clouds, but the sunset was phenomenal. When I saw this Great Blue Heron fishing for his dinner, I crept up on him to capture his silhouette. When I noticed the people in the background walking toward the shoreline, I waited for them to get in just the right position to complement the bird's position. This is my favorite kind of shot....the one you get when you're chasing something else...perfect serendipity. I am honored to have my image alongside so many amazing others, and very humbled for this affirmation of my work. Thank you! Kim Herold, Navarre, FL

  • We’ve seen this in real life, but this photograph captures the moment exactly well. The lonely rabbit stopping to listen for dangers. Well done!
