  • Into the wild! This boy becomes one with the nature that surrounds him. You caught a moment exactly at the right time. You as the photographer where discreet in the background, an unnoticed observer of this scene. It looks natural and is full of atmosphere. The light is great and and fits well together with this scene. A fabulous and impressive black and white picture. Congratulations to the winner of this Child Competition!

  • Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! My name is J.W. Hendricks. I'm based in Orlando, Fl. I was directing a short film at a local state park, and managed to get this shot during one of the breaks. This was taken with my Canon 60D, with an 85mm 1.8, and edited in Lightroom.

  • A strong photo that is good for many reasons. The colors are great, the composition is really well chosen, everything is in balance. The portrait becomes even more interesting with the yellow comb. In total a fabulous photo!

  • What a lovely shot! I like their facial expression! It looks like the dog takes care of this little baby. Both are attentive and look in a curious way to the photographer.

  • My name is David Kujas, I love shooting films for the uniqueness of the image it creates and the options in formats. I took this picture of my daughter on a swing with an old analog camera (Hexar AF and Kodak Trix 400). I burned almost a full roll to get the proper focus on her face. Light post processing in Lightroom after film scan to adjust contrast.

  • By Carl Osterly. This is my niece Mia. The photo was taken at her home on a Fujifilm X100S at 1/250 sec at F2.8 ISO 1000. Black and white conversion and some tonal adjustments were applied in Lightroom. The image was resized and sharpened in Photoshop. I instructed Mia to close her eyes and asked her not to open them until I had counted to three. On the third count she opened her eyes laughing out loud and that is when I took the shot!

  • Thank you, Lisa! I enjoyed your comment very much. My name is Denis Malciu and I'm from Romania. Photography is one of my hobbies, especially street and fine-art. I took the photo in Bucharest, in an old park downtown and the little girl is Sofia, my colleague's daughter (I thank her for allowing me to post the photo…). I used my Sony A7, with Carl Zeiss 55mm f1.8, a compact gear, good for street shooting. I wanted to recreate a moment from the past, as a memento from everyone's childhood … So I edited the image with a film-like filter (VSCO in ACR) and in CS6, too, for additional accents. I'm glad you liked it and your beautiful words make me very proud. Here is my portfolio: https://www.flickr.com/photos/75495350@N07/ https://500px.com/denis_malciu

  • My name is Sean Donnelly. I shot this photo in La Casaccia on the La Foce estate near Montepulciano in Tuscany, while I was a guest of the girl's parents in July 2002. While my hosts slept off their jetlag, I staked out the hallway at dawn with my Hasselblad 203 FE and Planar T* 2/110 FE held low and pre-focused. I fired the shutter when she reached my range mark; I was lucky it coincided with her having a single toe in contact with the floor! The film was Kodak T400CN chromogenic B&W film, a favorite of mine for its tolerance of enormous scene contrast. Despite the blown highlights, I've always loved this moment of pure childhood.

  • Many thanks for this award. I am very pleased and grateful. This image for me is about children's understanding of sharing. They are watching a cartoon. However the proprietor of the iPad is not focused on it. He has to make sure the older boy does not overtake. The other one is so desperate to watch that looks like he does not care. But does he really? :) Taken with D800, 35-70mm lens. f 3.2 @ 60 sec, ISO 400. Edited in PS. Anna Moskalkova. Spain based photographer.

  • This was shot in Cape May, New Jersey with a Canon MKii. We went dolphin watching that day...and it was foggy. My daughter saw some dolphins in the distance and she had been keeping her focused fixed on the surface of the ocean. :)

  • Thanks for the appreciation! Taken on Bournemouth beach during the winter, this picture recalls Bresson's "decisive moment". Like the master I found my angle, my light, and then waited for the subject to come in to play.

  • Sarah Golding's my name, and I'm from Melbourne, Australia. This lovely shot was taken with my Samsung Galaxy sIV mini of my gorgeous niece and the farm cat playing on a huge haystack under a brilliant blue sky at a family reunion in Hay, New South Wales, Australia. Post processing was done using default image viewer program Preview on Mac, running OS Yosemite. I pulled the saturation to zero for a black and white option and slightly increased the contrast.
