  • What a fantastic idea that was to make a visual play on the buildings in the background that look upside down by having someone stand on their heads! These buildings have appeared in several previous I SHOT IT city competitions, but your creative idea makes this photo a winner. <br> You put a smile on our faces. Thank you!

  • Ahhh, Thank you! This image is part of a portrait series of my son. The idea came spontaneously from him and we constantly evolve it. My son is someone who compensate school and everyday stress with a lot of movement. Breakdance gives him strength, self-confidence and the ability to take a certain amount of time distance to of all this. That's all matter for the head. ;) The view to the great architecture in the background is violated by the headstand, so that the image contain a constant switch between foreground and background. The further plan is to travel to more monumental buildings. I Shot It in Cologne, Germany. I used my Leica M9P with a 35mm Summicron IV.

  • This photo stands out not just for its nostalgic slice of Americana, but also for its technical execution and excellent composition which works both in its spatial arrangement and also for its harmonious colors which help pull it together visually.

  • Thanks so much for choosing my photo! My name is Robert Garibay and I took this photo along with many similar images while wandering through my neighborhood in San Diego everyday after school. I was fortunate to be on these walks at a time each day when the light was low, making everything look magical. This is one in a series from the North Park area of San Diego, taken with my Samsung note 3 and processed using the VSCO mobile app.

  • The flat grid like appearance of this photo along with all the painted traffic rules helps abstract and convey the orderliness of the society living in this region. It's a well composed and visually pleasing image that also provides a real sense of city life - well done!

  • We appreciated the simplicity of this image which first presents as a visually pleasing Mondrian-like abstract that is all about the balance of color and shape. A longer look reveals the life behind the facade which adds another layer.

  • Thanks for choosing my photo! My name is Håkan Olofsson and I'm living in Linköping, Sweden where this photo also was taken, during a photo walk where I was looking for some more or less abstract building photos. Nikon D610 + Tamron 70-200 f/2,8 @ 200mm, 1/640, f/4

  • With only just the needed elements and nothing else, this image reads like a diagram for a play or a movie scene. The 'elements', the lines, posts, and people are all placed perfectly and complete a very intriguing composition. Fantastic!

  • Using the reflection or taking a double exposure is a great way to add another layer to an image. The photographer of this image succeeded by also making good use of light and dark areas in the composition.

  • Photo 88: In a way this is a very odd image since the statue almost looks real for a minute, but because of the soft lighting and the powerful composition, its very compelling. Nicely done!

  • Many thanks for theacknowledgment. I’ve been shooting Venice and it’s people since 4 years now. I prefer winter, raining and fog because of the suggestive atmosphere they create around this beautiful Town and this is one of the images I chose for my portfolio. It shows The Island of S.Giorgio from the extreme end of Venice where a sculpture has been positioned for some months. The fog of a cold winter morning and the sculpture without any uman element occour to create this metaphisic landscape with the atmoshpere I was looking for. M9 and 50 summilux pre-asph. • The overlapping pattern of the wires against the colored night sky is simple and beautiful, however what makes this image deserving of merit is the sense of mystery. Why do the birds only sit on the one set of wires? Why do they face the same way? What is about to happen?

  • This panoramic night shot of San Francisco would be beautiful even the pier in the foreground weren't there. The wisps of clouds in the sky help complete the image.

  • Being the only sign of life, the lone shadow in this image takes on a larger and more powerful role. Is this an amusement ride or a kind of ominous Matrix-like machine? The photographer's use of light and dark help enhance the other possibilities.
