  • The fairytale atmosphere of this photograph with teenagers and kids playing outside their homes is what we like about this photo. It operates in what is technically possible, yet it manages to communicate the uncomplicated world of play on a summer evening before bedtime. This is the winner of the I-SHOT-IT Premium Competition.

  • Thank you for this distinction with the first prize. This photograph was taken in Terceira Island in the Azores. Reading the jury's comment, I got the feeling they were with me that day. Got out of my car and saw the kids playing on that background light. I used the 105mm f2 lens that was placed in my D4 camera, and start shoot from the place I was without interfering with the scene. The goal keeper, on the right, was a surprise (maybe the punctum), because I only saw him when I got home. I congratulate all the participants in this competition. There are great photos here. Thanks again, Rui Caria.

  • Very filmic and very interesting atmosphere in this "beauty shot gone to the dark side” Just simply beautiful, but with a twist of we don’t know what.

  • Almost a painting. How do you pack this much action into one picture? It’s really well done and communicates perfectly what a busy place this beach is.

  • Strikingly detailed history in a face. What does it mean? That is what we find interesting in this photo. Very well captured with just the essential elements, in great quality and tones.

  • This image came about as a result of being invited to spend a day with Nadia ("Homeless Girl" Blog) and Mark Hovarth from Invisiblepeople.tv talking to homeless people in London, taking photographs and doing a video interview to get their story and wishes for the future. We met many interesting homeless people as part of a project to highlight the issues of being homeless in the UK. There is a wide diversity of people that end up sleeping rough on the streets. Peter has a problem with drink but was lucid, articulate and friendly when we met him. What ever issues and history Peter may have he needs help. Both Mark and Nadia who accompanied me on the day have been homeless but managed to get off the streets and turn their lives around and are now helping homeless people with the publicity they generate via their blog and website/s.

  • Thank you. I teach High School, this is one of my yearbook editors from last year, I shot the prom photos for my yearbook kids. I also have my own company for photography. I entered the contest hoping to win the camera for the High School to use (I teach Photography and funds are very limited). I used my nikon d700 at Balboa Park in the Cactus Garden for this shot. This students nick name was "Tropic Thunder," haha...since he looks so much like Robert Downey did in the movie.

  • Close up and personal reportage. We can’t decide whom of the two is most interesting looking at, but there is a story behind this image and it is up to you to figure it out. That’s what we got from it.

  • Pure happiness. We love it. Are they happy to see each other, did someone just get married? We don’t know, but their happiness shines through.

  • The light and the feel of the timeless atmosphere in this photo is what we really like. And the poker face trying to show he knows how to play chess. Maybe he does.

  • Thank you very much for the Mark of Excellence for this photo. It was taken in Hyde Park, Sydney on a hot afternoon with a Leica M240 and my "go to" lens", the Summilux 50/1.4 ASPH. This gentleman worked on his moves with almost Zen-like calm in the face of constant banter from his opponent and vocal comments from the gallery.

  • Thank you for the Mark of Excellence. This was taken at a wedding a few years ago. These kids were the first on the dance floor. Totally spontaneous. Taken with a Nikon D300 and an 18-200mm lens.

  • One of the first thoughts when we see this picture is how unusual a location it is, and after a while the word daredevil might be what sums up this photo!
  • Photographers Comment
  • Thank You and yes, a bit of dare devil, but the road isn't too busy. This was taken out by Otay Lakes in Chula Vista. I entered the contest hoping to win the camera for the High School I teach at to use (I teach Photography and funds are very limited). I used my nikon d700 and remote OCF. I also have my own company for photography.
