  • Wonderful ambiguity about the composition; there are almost three separate photographs here with left and right views of the path looking like they are completely different paths! The underpass cutting down the middle is a great element with its symmetrical position. Despite the symmetrical structure, the image itself has a great deal of variety and almost randomness.

  • I'm honored my photo was selected! My name is John and I'm a Liverpudlian that has made the U.S my home for the last 20 years, with the last 10 in Washington, D.C. The image was taken with my iPhone 5S using the the built in camera app and its panorama setting. The image was taken in Dupont Circle, Washington DC and was the last image of the day, a quick stop before heading to the Metro. I have stopped at this spot a couple of times but have never been happy with the results. This time I really liked how the underpass split the image into two halves. I have numerous cameras but I love my iPhone and have enjoyed taking pictures with it since the first one came out in 2007.

  • Great atmosphere, the small figures on the left really provide a perspective on the grand scope of the landscape. Very emotional image and a favourite of the judges.

  • Thanks for choosing my photo! My name is Hakan and I live in Sweden. The photo was taken with my Iphone 5S and the panoramic app "360". This summer we went from Sweden to Norway for some hiking. This trip was about 5 hours one-way. But the scenes was worth it. The cliff is called "Trolltunga" (Troll's tongue), and sticks out in the air with a 700 meters drop below.

  • Clever composition with the sun in the middle, yet being able to preserve the blue skies and the details of the landscape, very strong composition and a lovely scene.

  • Lovely blues and beautiful reflections of the buildings and sky, with a good sense of light and shadow areas.

  • Thank you for your recognition! This photo was taken in Dublin, Ireland on a nice sunny Day in December. I took this photo with my iPhone 4S without any image manipulation. On the right you see the Ha'penny bridge. It is an old cast iron bridge made in 1816. The river is called River Liffey.

  • Great vertical, with a strong blue sky and its almost abstract in what it is representing, really nice image with rich colours.

  • My name is Heather Sprague, and my photos come under the brand Fey LittleWing Photography. I took this particular image with my iPhone 4S, in my yard, in the high desert in California. You don't see skies anywhere else in the world, like you do in the desert, and I constantly marvel at the shapes and colors when I look up at the sky. I did run this image through two apps, but I honestly cannot tell you which ones. I make a point of this, because my process is to work intuitively with an image until I have an emotional response, rather than to memorize applications, insuring that all my photos come out looking the same. I stopped with this image when I felt not only the sensation of being pulled across the sky, but also of being pulled up into space. I hope that sensation translates to the viewer.

  • Very dramatic and sombre with muted tones, rough textures and the architectural elements of the iron structures. The sun almost coming through the clouds is really a lovely touch.

  • Great symmetry and composition with this house or lodge sitting on the hill (which is probably a very high mountain!) The sky is great and you have a wonderful sense as you look into the distance of being on top of the world. Lovely image.

  • Thanks a lot! This was taken in Dolomites, Italy and the hut is indeed on top of a high mountain (2575m). It took us 800m of climbing to get to this place where we stayed the night but needless to say it was well worth the effort! This is taken with iPhone 5 and edited in Snapseed app.

  • Really good use of the panoramic format as we have the storm on the left and blue sky on the right, very dramatic and a great capture of this force of nature.

  • With the Tour d'France, we have to have one bicycle reference, so we can imagine that maybe one of these rusted old wheels is from a bike! Great photo with a lovely lighthearted sense of the scene.
