  • everything about this image works ... the slight skew of the horizon echoing the playfulness of image, the black-and-white rendering allowing the running cat to stand out from the other elements, and the slow shutter speed to capture the motion blur of this speeding feline. wonderfully captured and rendered. well done. ~ illona

  • Thank you so much for the First Prize my photo! My Name is Nanami Ohmura live in Tokyo Japan. This cat is my domestic cat's, his name as "Geppei" . He undertook the grievous injury like it becoming impossible to walk at the time of a kitten, and came to my home. However, he conquers an injury and can run now powerful. I had the heart beating, seeing his run. This picture take in July ,2014 with Leica X VARIO, 1/10sec.f5.1 ISO800 length 50mm. Thank you for looking my photo!

  • the depth of shadow and grittiness of textures makes this image immediately mysterious and compelling. the play of light and dark is wonderful ... the contrast of the silhouette of the middle cat against the light on the path draws us in and keeps us wondering what lies beyond. beautifully seen and captured. ~ illona

  • Thanks for appreciating my work! This closeup was shot in Padua (Italy) using a Nikon d800 body and Nikkor 300mm/f4 lens, and portraits Tigrino (i.e. "small tiger"), a curious and cuddly cat from the neighbourhood, whose hide shows an interesting texture with muted tones. Postprocessed using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

  • This is actually quite surprising to have any recognition for this image! This was just a random ginger cat that had been lingering around my house in Melbourne for a while (that actually belonged to a house in my court). I just grabbed my canon 5d mkii and decided to photograph it, lucky for me it was quite a photogenic cat!

  • Thank you to the judges for appreciating my photos. This shot was taken (as it often is absolutely the case) when my friends and I were walking through the streets of Limassol, Cyprus. I noticed this cat peripheral vision and was coasting a few meters, when I realized that the camera angle and the cat are excellent) and I just have to come back and make this picture. Taken by Olympus E-M1+75/1.8.
