  • Great composition, light and colours, and what we like also in this photo is its atmosphere, which partially comes from a slight out of focus. Congratulation to the winner!

  • What an awesome way to see, and to photograph flowers. Truly unusual, creative and amazing! The focus is on the stems, where all comes together. The actual flowers are out of focus. Well done!

  • A beautiful close up of a well lived flower, photographed from close proximity to view the inside of this plant. It draws the observer right into the middle of this flower.

  • Thank you so much!!! I shot this with my Nikon D3200 using my 85mm micro-Nikkor lens. This Lily was from my bouquet from my best friend's wedding. I am currently a beginner photographer and you made my day!! Thank you for choosing my photo!!

  • A lot of room for imagination, in this B&W photograph. The square format works well within its composition. The little gnome and the sunflowers create a good story.

  • I won that garden gnome at a photo competition of our local botanical garden. Since I am not really a gnome person, it stood around and gathered dust for a while. Then, when the sunflowers on our lawn got bigger and bigger, I had the idea to use the gnome as a prop for an unusual sunflower photo. Now, I won a mark of excellence in a photo competition with a picture of a gnome that I had won in another photo competition. Makes me smile ... :)

  • This is a nice way, how to present a cactus! Not much longer to go, before little blossoms will open up and then, this will become a very colourful image!

  • Thank you. This Prickly Pear Cactus was captured in Bloomington, Indiana with a Sony RX10; processed on an IPad with vary little manipulation of the original Jpeg file. I have been observing it on my morning walk for a couple of years; fascinated by how these sentinel like structures offer up such delicate yet guarded beauty in the form of yellow flowers each season.

  • An atmospheric photo, which seems like it was taken in autumn. The low light and the angle how it was taken, makes this image a true stunner!

  • I'm happy that my photo got a "Mark of Excellence" in this photo competition, thank you ! My name is Daniel Ludwig from Berlin/Germany. I was looking for a field with poppies in the surroundings of Berlin, but had no idea where to find poppies. After several questions in social media I got a hint where to find this field. So after work I jumped on my bike and got to this field 40min later, perfect time as the sunset just began and the light was awesome. I used my Canon 6D with an old russian manual lens, the Helios 44-2 58mm/f2. The Helios 44-2 tends to create these lensflares when pointed towards the light. I really like the lensflare in this photo as it supports the mood very well. The "fog" under the sun is stirred-up sand from a car passing by. I processed the photo in Lightroom to enhance contrast and colors a bit.

  • What adds to this image is the depth of field with a niceley blurred away background. This makes the flower stand out. A positive photograph, showing new growth in a lush environment.

  • Thank you so much for this "Mark of Excellence." This was taken with my Nikon D3100. These flowers grow behind the Art Gallery next door. I have photographed them a lot these past few years, but this one is my favorite. Cindy Viol, Oklahoma City

  • A nice way to capture a poppyseed capsule, in a simple and abstract way, photographed frontal from above. The purple and green are opposites on the colour wheel, which means that they compliment each other.
