Coyote vs vole, wildlife at its most surprising, and it looks like vole might just be winning. This is an enchanting and rare photograph and a lovely story. While traveling in Yellowstone National Park in January, I noticed a coyote checking out the snow banks next to the road for voles. He dove into one of the bank and pulled out this vole. The vole bit him on the lip and he dropped it on the road and the vole fought back. The coyote eventually caught and ate the vole but it was a wonderful experience.
