Deleting photos has now become a lot faster. Photos can be deleted from your account in an instant.
Here at I SHOT IT we use Google Cloud Storage to store your uploaded photos. Each of your uploaded photos is stored in 5 different sizes. When you delete a photo all of these 5 files must be deleted from the Google Cloud Storage. This can take between 4 and 5 seconds.
We hope that you never delete your account, but if you did and if you had a few hundred photos, you wouldn't want to wait several minutes while we deleted all of your photos. You'd want it to happen in an instant. In fact your browser would probably time out before your account was delete. This needed to be fixed!
Deleted photos are now marked for deletion in our database. When our website isn't busy we can just click on a button and permanently remove the photos from our storage. This means our website is more responsive for you when you delete individual photos, and people who delete their account wont need to go off for a coffee while they are waiting.
