  • Old grandmother acting as a physiotherapist, is a custom that has been passed from generation to generation in Sri Lanka. when a newborn is at least one month old I began. massages are given to their forehead, nose, and ears. sometimes even to legs, so they stay in good shape. it happens in the last generation. And continued on this generation. Will enrich generations to come. And we bind together our society by these traditions of love and peace. I used Nikon D600 camera and 50mm F1.8 G lens. This photo was taken at Katukurunda, Kalutara, Sri Lanka.

  • A little bit cheeky, and beautifully executed in B&W - we love this photograph and can see how this boy and his dog might be best friends, and partners in crime!

  • Hello! My name is Natalia, I am a Brazilian photographer living in Dublin, Ireland. I'm flattered that my photo was chosen as a mark of excellence, mainly because the photo was taken on such a special trip for me. It was in Batumi, Georgia, a country who’s culture and beauty I am passionate about. At the time of the photo I was walking through the streets of Batumi when I came across this boy and his dog, the two were very curious and then I started taking pictures and the two continued posing and playing together. I used a Sony A7IIr with 55mm lens.

  • Insightful and reflecting, that is what comes to mind observing this photograph. How the light enters this place gently works well with its colours as well. Wonderfully seen and the post production is skillfully managed as well.

  • Who is having the bigger smile, is it the boy or is it the dog? This photo is delightful to look at, it has a lovely colour palette, and the angle how it was shot creates a nice story. We look up to our two subjects, these two rule the world!

  • Nature and childhood go well hand in hand. This image illustrates this well, a freedom which these three boys can explore. The moody sky with a little sun coming through makes this an even more interesting photo.

  • Thank you to the judges for selecting my image for a mark of excellence. This photo was taken on the Black Sea resort of Batumi in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, South West Georgia. I made the photo using a Nikon D850. I particularly like shooting in this type of fleeting light where the sun creeps out under an overcast sky which adds an element of drama and rich contrast. Georgia is a very generous country for photography, full of rewarding subject matter.

  • Far, far away … Still a child, but her/his expression brings us far away. The intensity of this young person is not childish. It is a grown up person in a young body.

  • First, all we see are these two happy faces, smiling at us. On a second glance, we notice the third face with a smile, even bigger. A lovely and positive capture this is, giving us a glimpse into someone’s private life, somewhere in a foreign country to mine. We love it!

  • It takes a minimal suggestion to create an image full of imagination! Without seeing anything but the young person’s little fingers, this is a wonderful photo delivering so much more. The black and white execution is done sensibly, and loving all the empty space in between.
