  • Apart from the obvious wow factor and cuteness this photo is technically perfect, the very short depth of field is difficult to master on such a fast moving subject and really sets mouse apart from its surroundings. Great shot and wonderful work, well done you win this round.

  • I am very happy to be the wildlife competition winner, thanks to the judge for choosing my image! Despite being one of our most common woodland mammals, the small, sweet and secretive wood mouse is hard to spot. In autumn the woodmouse collects nuts and seeds to store them in a food chamber to survive winter. Capturing the jumping mouse was quite a tough challenge for me, because it was almost impossible to predict the focus point. It was taken without any help of a camera trigger/light barrier. The shot was taken with my Canon 7D. Camera settings: f 3.5, ISO 1600, 1/1000sec.

  • Well it came close! This is a superb panned action shot where you have managed to create some lovely textures and of course a great sense of the wild. Very well done, it is a risky choice of shutter speed that has paid off so well.

  • The space, the birds and the flying dirt make this photo of the backsides of these elephants really come alive. We have a great feeling of a wild moment captured in the perfect instant. I suspect your next shot (or the previous) without that space, the flying dirt or the birds has none of this precious atmosphere.

  • It is a beautiful gathering of dolphins and you have captured the empty vastness of the underwater world and this wonderful mass portrait with so much detail at the same time, well done.

  • This is very original and maybe even unconventional but that is why you get through. The light is lovely and lights up those ears so well. Hares are fast, you did well getting this sharp.
