  • Here is a straight forward and beautifully honest photograph. You have managed the difficult light cleverly, shadows and highlights welcomingly respected, making it an integral part of your composition. Importantly, you have photographed the resulting image whilst on the ground with minimal digital fiddling and that has helped you win this round. You have succeeded in creating a lovely textured dreamscape image whilst keeping the forest atmosphere natural. This is Beautiful, well done.

  • Wow! Thanks so much. My girlfriend and I were driving through the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park in northern California early one morning last month when sunshine started pouring through the tall trees. I parked the truck, jumped out and started making photos from the narrow road. Eventually, I disappeared into the woods. The trees were giant, the ferns were giant. I felt like a tiny person. I kept moving, stopping and making photos. There were so many photo ops, so I just kept shooting. After about 30 minutes the moment was gone. I did minimal adjustments in Lightroom, only to make the photo resemble what I actually saw that morning. Nikon d7200, Nikon 10-24mm set at 10mm, f8, 1/320 shutter speed, ISO 1000.

  • Beautiful soft evening light on this stunning alpine scene, and a nicely weighted compsosition, so this (same place) nearly made it again.

  • Simply beautiful again. Here is an eye pleasing minimal composition of shapes, of lines and of contrast, with your friend (or maybe yourself) as the anchor point. Your approach is straight forward and your photograph very pleasant (except for your signature which unsettles the peace and purity you did so well creating. grrr.)

  • This is a lovely snow scene and a delicately balanced composition. You have brought so much mood to this cold place, really putting your soul into this. Sadly it is that rather hard contrast (particularly on the tree) which cost you the prize…

  • Hi! Thank you very much for this great honor. This picture is very special to me, it's actually one of my favorite images. It has been taken in the Fens (Belgian national park), which is not far from where I live. As you can see it's particularly beautiful during winter. Canon 6D - Canon 70-200 F4 IS L, 93mm - ISO100 - 1/1000 - F4.

  • I love this one though the tones are a bit strange, but the textures and composition are so nice and hold the eye.

  • Thank you for the honor! My name is Guenther and I live in Austria. This shot was taken on a rather gloomy winter day, but this single tree on the snow-covered hill, caught my eye to get this minimal shot. I used my Nikon D7100 with an wide angle lens. Very little postprocessing in LR.
